How much do your services cost?

I think I finally have all my standard services listed on my services page here on this site. They may not perfectly match the booking site, but it's close. If there is anything you cannot find, or a rate is unclear, you are welcome to reach out directly at the contacts listed on my homepage.

Can you board my dog?

None of my staff (including myself) have a space for boarding, though I am hoping that will change in the near future in Orange County, CA.

Do you do potty training?

Firstly, see above-- most "potty training" services would traditionally be done in a boarding sense. Beyond that limitation, the science behind potty training is extememly context-specific, meaning the dog learns habits in their home environment. Much of any potty training plan is really on the human counterparts being strategic in where the dog is at any time, when they are provided opportunities to go, and what we do to facilitate a dog going where they should. Can-Do Canine! loves to provide detailed supoort and problem solving/brainstorming to help you set your dog up for success, but the true learning on the dog's part happens best at home.

How long does training take?

Concept training and other positive reinforcement methods are interesting because they don't have a guaranteed timeline. That is not to say it will take forever and training your dog will bleed your wallet dry, but it's truly impossible to tell you how long YOUR dog in your situation will take. Most skills are learned in a session or two, with consistent and simple practice at home. More complicated, deeply rooted behaviors can take longer as we are often restructuring not only how the dog interacts with the world, but how humans interact with the dog. And if I have learned anything in this journey, it is that it is far more difficult to change human habits compared to changing a dog's behavior.

However, one of the pride points of Can-Do Canine! and the structure of our training program is that it is entirely personalized and flexible. You won't spend weeks in a class that doesn't get right to the heart of your behavior goals-- I will evaluate what your priorities are and what your dog would benefit most deeply from, and we will build a training plan based on that. Training sessions are also booked individually, meaning you can work with us for years on different skills or meet for one session and get a few answers. It is our goal to meet your needs and train the dog in front of us. TL;DR: The more commitment your dog gets from you, the more progress you will see.

Do you do grooming?

While I do not have a facility for grooming (or a truck), I do not do the traditional "full grooming" experience, with the blowers, clippers, etc. I am relatively skilled in clipping and dremel-filing nails, and that service is listed on my services page. Additionally, I am capable of washing dogs in-home, or transporting them to a dog wash facility and washing for a client. That rate is not set as I negotiate on a case-by-case basis, often landing around $40. I am happy to brush dogs and other pets, and that fee would be negotiated, usually based on time spent, averaging around $20 per half hour. I am unskilled and uncertified in clipping and haircutting dogs, though in a pinch I'm happy to trim some hair from eyes, paws, or private area. I do not guarantee that it will look pretty, but I do try and attend to detail. Fee fully negotiated.
